LISTENER (US) + THE SEDAN VAULT (BE) + MONT-DORÉ (BE)
Saturday 10 September, 2016 at 19:00 - 23:00
JC Kavka, Oudaan 14, Antwerpen
Describing the group Listener, a few years ago, would have involved discussing two guys, a guitar, a macbook, and a washing machine; an explanation that would turn the head of even the most avante-guard fans of music. Listener has now evolved into a full fledged rock and roll power trio with vocalist Dan Smith playing bass and brass, guitarist Jon Terrey, and drummer Kris Rochelle pounding the skins as if the ghost of
John Bonham haunted his dreams. With thought provoking stage banter, music that keeps your mind busy, and words that quickly take hold of your heart, Listener is a near perfect balance of what words and music are supposed to be.
THE SEDAN VAULT (BE – Funtime Records)
The Sedan Vault hail from the city of Sterrebeek in Belgium. In official terms the band is labelled as ‘innovating indierock / postcore / progrock’. Their debut album ‘Mardi Gras of the Sisypha’ was released in 2006 on the independent label Funtime Records. Most of all, The Sedan Vault is known for their wild, energetic live shows. And that pays off. The past few years they played Pukkelpop, Dour and almost every Belgian club. They shared stages with bands such as Death Cab For Cutie, The Mars Volta, Minus The Bear, Nada Surf, Hermano and Coheed and Cambria.
MONT-DORÉ (BE – Black Bassett Records)
There’s is not much to know. They didn’t represent anything. Let’s say they were just searching to enjoy a view. From this point, it’s all about tension. Tending to express the more with deep shouts and the rest. Trying to manage intensity without primary intensions. As a result of life fluxus, there’s is not much to say that have not been said before. So here’s the complete set up. The mountains. And down, the humans running through them. Talking about concrete projections, they are five human beings playing music. Paul Marique, Grégoire Fray, Pierre Toussaint, Man NoKowTow and Benjamin Elleboudt. Brussels based.
